Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White has awarded Fiscal Year 2010 School District Library Program Grants totaling almost $1.4 million to 715 Illinois public school districts. Nearly 2 million students served by school library media programs will benefit from the grants.

Wayland Cultural Council awards grants (Wayland Town Crier)

The Wayland Cultural Council is pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s Massachusetts Cultural Council grants. Each year, every city and town in Massachusetts receives money to distribute to individuals or groups who submit applications proposing cultural programs to benefit the community. The applications for funding for the next calendar year are due in mid-October.

Flyer rails against DeSoto library funding cut (Dallas County News)

Bob Eschliman, Editor A letter widely circulated throughout DeSoto a few weeks ago called on the City Council to reconsider a 39-percent cut in funding for the community’s public library. But, as mayor Josh Chapman points out, the letter also misrepresents the facts in the matter.
