ONEIDA — All eligible voter’s in the Oneida Public Library’s special legislative district — with more than 15,000 people — will be able to vote on the library’s budget and its lone candidate for the board of trustees.

The transfer of a state grant of $7,219.49 to the Waltham Public Library’s book account will be requested by Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy at the full City Council meeting Monday night.

Of that there was no doubt. The acute shortage of space at Boyden Library, which had been operating out of Memorial Hall since 1871, had reached critical mass. The building, even with the two wings added in 1897, could no longer support the mission.
Fundraising plans were among the items discussed at a recent luncheon meeting of the Vivian Stuber Memorial Library. In the absence of Chairwoman Mary Lee Peck, co-chairman Minnie Woodworth called the meeting to order and proceeded to review items that had been discussed at the last board meeting.
